Lyric of the Day

I ended my two year long relationship. It was the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. Leaving someone you still love. Walking away from someone who is wrong for you, and you are ultimately wrong for each other. We shared a home. We shared a life. We were each other's everything. We became too co-dependent. We fought all the time, we destroyed each other. I am surprised we lasted as long as we did. I wish him all the best along his new road. I will always love him, but I need me back. I need to love me again.

"Don't make me sad, don't make me cry
Sometimes love is not enough and the road gets tough
I don't know why..."

It's not right...

Ms. Whitney said it best...

"It's not right but it's okay
I'm gonna make it anyway
Pack your bags up and leave
Don't you dare come running back to me
It's not right but it's okay
I'm gonna make it anyway
Close the door behind you
Leave your key
I'd rather be alone than unhappy..."
- It's Not Right But It's Ok by Whitney Houston

Lyric of the Day

This is my feel-good, sing-along-at-the top-of-your-lungs, happy song of the moment. It is so happy and upbeat. I love it. this has to be shared. Enjoy and pass on the good vibes. Peace. Haha.

"...And I told my bandmates, they are my soulmates
And I hope we can understand
That this year has been a big one, yeah
We following what we don't plan

So do you got that sweet devotion
Oh will you follow your heart's plan
Oh why not jump in to that ocean
And run your fingers through your hair

Waited enough to find the truth, the pain, again then say oh well
Don't say oh well
Don't say oh well
Don't say oh well
     Don't say oh well ..."

"Daddy's ghost behind you
Sleeping dog beside you
You're a poem of mystery
You're the prayer inside me

Spoken words like moonlight
You're the voice that I like..."

Lyric of the Day

This is easily one of the most beautiful songs ever crafted. It sings to the sappy girl in me. The music video is just as lovely. Just enjoy!

"There are moments when,
When I know it and
The world revolves around us,
And we're keeping it,
Keep it all going,
This delicate balance,
Vulnerable all knowing..."

Lyric of the Day

My little bird... come back to me. I love you.

"Little bird, don't you fly away.
You're everything I need today.
It's cold and grey.
It's not so great.
My little bird, come back again.

I wake up and you're not there,
like a day without the sun.
I don't wanna sound depressed,
but you're everything I ever wanted.
What am I supposed to do,
without my little bird?
without my..

Little bird, don't you fly away.
You're everything that I need to day.
Well, the sun may shine,
the rain may fall,
with my little bird I feel nothing at all.
Little bird, come back again.

I go to the bar and order twenty four tequilas,
but without you to fall down with,
it doesn't mean a thing.
I'm so lonely without you.
What am I supposed to do,
without my little bird?

(skank it up, yo.)
Come back again.

Little bird, don't you fly away.
You're everything that I need today.
It's cold and grey.
It's not so great.
My little bird, come back again.
Little bird, come back again.
Little bird, come back again.
Little, little bird, come back, come back again..."

Lyric of the Day

Paul has dubbed me "Milk", this is my new nickname. One for the collection. Along with Buzzoo, Bubbles, Bundles, D, Bambino, Baby, Little Fish, Cuttlefish, Cuddlewaves and Gunston when I drive.

He says the song by Kings of Leon "Milk" seems to sum everything up.
I love him, my Fuuni, more than words.

"She saw my comb over, her hourglass body
She had problems with drinking milk
and being school tardy
She'll loan you her toothbrush
She'll bartend you party..."

Lyric of the Day

We may fight, we may kick and scream through the streets of suburban Johannesburg, we may cause a scene, we may march, we may hold each other tight, we may cry, we may apologise, we may curse, we may promise, we may run, we may fly, or we may ache.

All these things we may do my love but my feelings for you remain unchanged Fuuni.

I have selected a few lines from two of my favourite songs for you.

"Let go of the past, that tore you apart.
Embrace this chance for a brand new start.
We weren't meant to be one of them,
but to live life, love and give..."
 - The Taste of Regret by In Fear and Faith

I sang this song, lungs bursting, ears ringing, unawares, loud enough to wake the dead (as I felt this was honouring the song's spirit) on the way back from your house tonight. Not, in such a long time has a song touched me or resonated with me in a way as it did tonight.

I believe in you my love. Let the lyrics in the way in which I did... I love you

"This is our city of the dead
Another life holds its weary head
We hope, we try, we live, survive
Counting days, trying to get by
Waiting for the calling
Anticipation in the air
We hope and dream of difference
City sleeping, unaware

Break the silence, WAKE THE DEAD
Running through these streets alone
I'll kick and scream, let's break this hold
'Cause I swear, that this won't render useless
I promise you, we've come this far
And I'm not stopping, I'm not stopping now
Enough hiding in shadows
Wake up, send out this message, it's clear

You said, you said, you said
this time was gonna be different
WAKE UP THE DEAD
[2x]

Coming alive, something stirs inside
This isn't over yet
Shake off the dirt
Swallow regret
Stop living under the weight
Living under the weight of regret
Your regrets
DON'T LOSE HOPE
Your regrets
DON'T LOSE HOPE
Don't let it happen to you
DON'T LOSE HOPE
Which side are you gonna choose?
'Cause I believe, I believe it's in you RISE!

We said, we said, we said
This time was gonna be different
WAKE UP THE DEAD..."

Lyric of the Day

I love these lyrics. Awesome video too.

"I want a girl with a mind like a diamond
I want a girl who knows what's best
I want a girl with shoes that cut
And eyes that burn like cigarettes

I want a girl with the right allocations
Who's fast and thorough
And sharp as a tack
She's playing with her jewelry
She's putting up her hair
She's touring the facility
And picking up slack

I want a girl with a short skirt and a lonnnng jacket......

I want a girl who gets up early
I want a girl who stays up late
I want a girl with uninterrupted prosperity
Who uses a machete to cut through red tape
With fingernails that shine like justice
And a voice that is dark like tinted glass

She is fast and thorough
And sharp as a tack
She's touring the facility
And picking up slack

I want a girl with a short skirt and a lonnnnng.... lonnng jacket

I want a girl with a smooth liquidation
I want a girl with good dividends
At Citibank we will meet accidentally
We'll start to talk when she borrows my pen

She wants a car with a cupholder arm rest
She wants a car that will get her there
She's changing her name from Kitty to Karen
She's trading her MG for a white Chrysler La Baron

I want a girl with a short skirt and a lonnnnggggggggg jacket..."

Lyric of the Day

I have been given a pre-released copy of the soon-to-be released album of the much anticipated release by Versus The Wolf. They used to be called New Altum. They are a local South African band (faith-focused) and to say that I was slightly obsessed with them is an understatement.

I was very pleasantly surprised to hear that my FAVOURITE New Altum track has in fact made it onto the Versus The Wolf album. WOW! This song gave me goosebumps 2 years ago and it still does today. Effing power! Great work guys. The album artwork is unparalleled. I urge anyone to pick up a copy of this album, or better yet, order through my good buddy Niel at Give and Take Records

"...Stay, stay with me tonight, stay with me tonight.

When I hear your heart beat, my heart screams out stay,
stay with me tonight,
I know I'll be alright as long as you're with me,
as long as you stay..."

Lyric of the Day

Eating my breakfast this morning, flipping some channels and on came a familiar track. 'Love Lost' by The Temper Trap. I have fallen for this music video. It is cool. That is the only word that comes to mind when I think of it, Oh, and original. 10 young boys running in the rain and mud singing. Brilliant! Shame, they must have been buggered afterwards. haha. I love this band. Bee Gees meets U2 but listenable.
"Oh our love was lost
Lost, lost, lost, lost....
Our love was lost
But now its found..."

Lyric of the Day

I love Sublime. Their easy skanking sound and care-free attitudes make me happy. My boyfriend says it is because they are stoners. No lies there. I think this "care-free" attitude is perfectly reflected in this song which I have been playing on repeat in my car. I tend to do that, "kill" songs. Song Assassin, guilty-as-charged. Hey, if a song is rad, I can't help it. Right now, I need chilled music. I have had a cold for over 3 weeks, damn shitting sore throat won't leave my body. Please be gone demon sore throat. My last resort is a course of anti-biotics, to which I am opposed. I hate the meds. I am a hippie when it comes to medication and would rather dose myself with vitamins and herbal remedies for weeks before considering the option of destroying my body with chemicals (says the drunk). So I leave you with the song that has been my remedy for the last month or so. It says the things I have not been able to. As for weeks as I have not wanted to get out of bed... Ah Sublime, thanks for leaving me in a good mood.

"...I don't wanna watch no porno
I don't wanna play guitar
I don't wanna spank the monkey
I don't wanna go down to the corner bar
And I ain't even got to listen
To all the stupid shit you got to say
I don't wanna do a god damn thing
'Cause I ain't gonna leave my bed today

I don't wanna
I don't wanna leave my bed today

I don't wanna
I don't wanna leave my bed today

I don't wanna
I don't wanna leave my bed today

Keep on skankin' Ronnie
Skank the night away
But the time is coming
For us all to pay (pay)

I don't wanna eat burritos
Or read about OJ
No, I don't want to get a head rush
'Cause I aint even gettin out of bed today..."

Lyric of the Day

I have a mad obsession with swing and jazz, and feed this obsession by listening to neo-swing bands such as Squirrel Nut Zippers and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy. I absolutely love this music video and song by the Squirrel Nut Zippers. Pure genius. Something a little different, something a little crazy, just up my alley. Plus I have a little obsession with animation. Enjoy!

"Met the Ghost of Stephen Foster at the Hotel Paradise
This is what I told him as I gazed into his eyes:
"Ships were made for sinking,
Whiskey made for drinking,
If we were made of cellophane, we'd all get stinking drunk quite faster "..."

Lyric of the Day aka My New Obsession

I have listened to this remix of Kid Cudi's Pursuit of Happiness by Steve Aoki over 20 times this weekend. It is an addiction, an obsession. It is so good. Have a listen!

"I'm on the pursuit of happiness
and I know everything that shines ain't always gonna be gold,
I'll be fine once I get it, I'll be good..."

Take It or Leave It

Sitting in our office Paulie told me to listen to the new Owl City playing on the radio, he then told me what he thought the lyrics were saying. Don't ask me what the song is called and what the original lyrics are, but this is the gem he came up with and I think it is the most hilarious thing I have heard in months. Funny stuff.

"...a thousand butterflies jizzling in your eyes..."
- Mr Paul Andrew

P.S. After consulting with my sister, the song is more than likely 'Vanilla Twilight'. Ah the joy of making up and mishearing lyrics.

Lyric of the Day

I have been listening to neo-swing and rockabilly/psychobilly non-stop for the past month. I used to be obsessed with rockabilly and seem to have tuned back into that obsession. Thus to honour my love for swing and said rockabilly I have partnered my lyric of the day with a poem by William Blake called 'The Tiger'. It happens to be one of my favourite poems, and Tiger Army have sampled a line from it to use in their song, 'Valley of Dreams'.

"I prowl the night
A tiger tiger burning bright now
There's something in the air
Forever searching but I find it nowhere..."
- Valley of Dreams by Tiger Army

"Tiger, tiger, burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?..."
- The Tiger by William Blake

P.S. The poem is actually recited by Emile Hirsch in the film 'The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys' during a funeral scene. This too happens to be one of my favourite movies. Thus a favourite song, poem and movie is acknowledged at the same time. I love efficiency haha.

Lyric of the Day

 "I want your horror
I want your design
‘Cause you’re a criminal
As long as your mine
I want your love
Love-love-love
I want your love...

I want your love
And I want your revenge
I want your love
I don’t wanna be friends...

You and me could write a bad romance..."
- Bad Romance by Lady Gaga
