Lyric of the Day aka My New Obsession

I have listened to this remix of Kid Cudi's Pursuit of Happiness by Steve Aoki over 20 times this weekend. It is an addiction, an obsession. It is so good. Have a listen!

"I'm on the pursuit of happiness
and I know everything that shines ain't always gonna be gold,
I'll be fine once I get it, I'll be good..."

Gorgeous Audrey

Audrey Hepburn, in my opinion, is one of the most classic beauties of all time. She always demonstrated the most chic elegance and had such an easy style. Something I very much admire.
“Your heart just breaks, that's all. But you can't judge, or point fingers. You just have to be lucky enough to find someone who appreciates you.”
- Audrey Hepburn

“The best thing to hold onto in life is each other.”

70's Retro Love

As far back as I can remember I have been obsessed with all things "70's". From interior design, art, music, everything. Everytime I see a burnt orange piece of furniture, mug, plate, rug, wallpaper, my heart jumps. It is love. I have collected awesome vintage items over the years. I have full crockery sets, throw cushions, lamps, radios, cameras. The obsession never ends. I have even furnished my bedroom in the 70's style, well as best as I could. It's the wood-panelling, the plush carpets, the warm tones. I love it all. Thanks to UltraSwank for the awesome pics.

Stumblings

I love StumbleUpon. I find such lovely sites, images and musings lost in the space that is the interweb. My first stumble today and I think it is a winner. A poem by Pablo Neruda on love. Enjoy!

"I do not love you as if you were salt-rose or topaz,
or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.
I love you as certain things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul.

I love you as the plant that never blooms,
but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers.
Thanks to your love a certain fragrance,
risen darkly from the earth, lives darkly in my body.

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where,
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride,
so I love you because I know no other way than this:
where "I" does not exist, nor "you,"
So close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
So close that your eyes close and I fall asleep."

-Pablo Neruda

Take It or Leave It

Never has something been so relevant to me in such a long time. I tend to want to control everything and anything. I have been told that I need to curb my impatience. Oh wells. I am working on it. I am taking Gaviscon for the acid reflux though, haha. So this is my quote for the day, take it, or leave it. Ciao!

Happy Birthday Old Boy

It just so happens to be Donald Duck's birthday today. He is 76 years old. Can you believe that?! He's been rocking out with his... well he has no pants on. He has, and will remain to hold, a special place in my heart. Love you always!

Happy Birthday Donald! You Cutie!

My New Obsession

It took me hours of searching the vastness that is the interweb using the Google-machine to find this music video, by a band I could not name, nor had any inkling of the lyrics or even the song name. Alas I found it. Time to share it.

Take It or Leave It

Sitting in our office Paulie told me to listen to the new Owl City playing on the radio, he then told me what he thought the lyrics were saying. Don't ask me what the song is called and what the original lyrics are, but this is the gem he came up with and I think it is the most hilarious thing I have heard in months. Funny stuff.

"...a thousand butterflies jizzling in your eyes..."
- Mr Paul Andrew

P.S. After consulting with my sister, the song is more than likely 'Vanilla Twilight'. Ah the joy of making up and mishearing lyrics.

Lyric of the Day

I have been listening to neo-swing and rockabilly/psychobilly non-stop for the past month. I used to be obsessed with rockabilly and seem to have tuned back into that obsession. Thus to honour my love for swing and said rockabilly I have partnered my lyric of the day with a poem by William Blake called 'The Tiger'. It happens to be one of my favourite poems, and Tiger Army have sampled a line from it to use in their song, 'Valley of Dreams'.

"I prowl the night
A tiger tiger burning bright now
There's something in the air
Forever searching but I find it nowhere..."
- Valley of Dreams by Tiger Army

"Tiger, tiger, burning bright
In the forests of the night,
What immortal hand or eye
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?..."
- The Tiger by William Blake

P.S. The poem is actually recited by Emile Hirsch in the film 'The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys' during a funeral scene. This too happens to be one of my favourite movies. Thus a favourite song, poem and movie is acknowledged at the same time. I love efficiency haha.

Lyric of the Day

 "I want your horror
I want your design
‘Cause you’re a criminal
As long as your mine
I want your love
Love-love-love
I want your love...

I want your love
And I want your revenge
I want your love
I don’t wanna be friends...

You and me could write a bad romance..."
- Bad Romance by Lady Gaga
