Dance,You'reonfire going Back to Basics

Dance,You'reonfire along with this This City is the Desert (in Disguise) played Back2Basix last week Saturday. I was asked by Tina from Vixxen magazine to take some shots for the mag. I was more than happy to oblige. The only downer came when City Power saw fit to shed it's load halfway through Dance,You'reonfire's set and we had to call it an early night. Either way I got some pics.

HORSE The Band

It has been over a week since I have seen HORSE The Band on their SA tour and I have been uber slack in posting the pics I took on the nights. So I have finally come around to posting them.

Anyways. HORSE The Band are easily the most incredible live act I have ever seen, and that is saying a lot. Over the years I have seen amazing international acts, each one outdoing the next. UnderOath, Haste The Day, From Autumn to Ashes, Metallica... you get the point. I was overjoyed when I heard Horse were touring as I thought I was the only lady to actually love them. I went alone to the Pretoria gig on the Thursday night (okay I met a colleague there). Facing The Gallows, Sesling and Straatligkinders played in support. I heart Facing The Gallows and Straatligkinders.

I then made my second solo mission on the Friday night to see them again. I had no intention of going, but owing to their awesomeness, a second round was needed. I knew a lot of people going so I knew I would not be completely A-lone. Plus I got a message from Niel telling me he was going, what a relief. I do not like going places alone you may have gathered. Anyways, back to the point, the band, HORSE that is. Facing The Gallows and Sesling supported again, with The Dead Will Tell and Their Death Becomes Her also playing in support that night. I had a fun fun night. Socialising, singing and being happy!

Sunday Vibes

It was a long weekend this past weekend, it was Easter. I love this time of year, look forward to it and then it flies by in a flash. I even had days that repeated themselves... Friday: sleep late, movie with me mom and then Cool Runnings Fourways to watch bands. Sunday: the same haha. Sunday night is what this blog post is about. Danceyou'reonfire, Isochronous and Captain Stu were playing. I hadn't seen Captain Stu (and the Llamas) in about 6 or 7 years. I love ska, it is the happiest music and it puts me in a happy place. So needless to say, I was more than amped to see them on Sunday. Danceyou'reonfire opened with a solid set. They are professional, tight and play very well crafted music. So it is always rad to see them. Isochronous played next, but I am really not a fan. All the hype and none of the delivery. Sorry guys. Maybe I am tone deaf who knows. Then (yayness) it was time for Captain Stu to take the stage. Barefooted, long haired, pierced and chilled Cape Townian boys played a cool set. It reminded me of how much I love ska. It was the perfect way to play out the last night out for the weekend. What an awesome weekend. Packed with activities, friends and fun times. Repeat please?!

Joburg Burning 3

These pics are up a week late, but better late than never I guess. What an awesome night it was. 32 bands, 5 venues and multiple taxis to run to to get to the next venue to catch the next band. I have been to the last one and this one definitely outdid it haha. The panic and excitement when you have to catch a crammed taxi to the noise, smoke, sweat and love that are the live performances by the Jozi bands. I love it! There is one place that I am always content, and that is at a live show. Nothing compares to the exhiliration and joy I feel when I see bands. Sounds lame, I know, but it is my reality and I would not swap it for anything!
